Quantitative indices of the monetary market on the rise

In March 2007 the quantitative indicators of the money market advanced versus February 2007. The total value of transactions in the money market carried out by banks represented MDL 1057.4 million, increasing by MDL 505.1 million, or by 91.5% against February 2007. According to the data provided by the central bank, the volume of interbank credits/deposits in MDL has increased by MDL 512.7 mln or by 97.2%, reaching the value of about MDL 1.04 mln, of which 81.5% were represented by the overnight transactions. The average weighted rate of the interbank credits/deposits constituted 11.18% annually, decreasing by 0.08 percentage points compared with the previous month. The average weighted term of the transactions in the reported period constituted 4 days. The volume of the sale-purchase transactions performed in March 2007 on the secondary market of state securities registered MDL 6.2 mln, by MDL 9.5 mln less against February 2007. The sale-purchase transactions with the certificates of the National Bank of Moldova totalled MDL 8 mln. The average weighted rate of the GS operations constituted 11.31% annually, diminishing by 0.56 percentage points against the previous month. The average weighted term until the maturity of the transacted GS was 181 days. The average weighted rate of the CNB sold on the secondary market constituted 13.86% (by 0.02 percentage points less) with the average weighted term of 25 days.
