The Cabinet approved a draft law to amend the law on the quality of drinking water. Thus, the list of quality parameters will be updated, IPN reports.
"According to recent statistical data, a significant proportion of water samples taken from underground and surface sources do not comply with quality standards, both chemically and microbiologically," said Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco.
According to the official, this situation has a direct impact on the health of the population, leading to an increase in morbidity associated with the consumption of contaminated water.
The bill says that 57 urban localities and 892 rural localities, or 63% of the country's localities, had access to public water supply systems in 2023.
