Public utility makes recommendations about use of liquefied petroleum gas

The Chisinau water supplier recommends returning to the practice of using cylinders with liquefied petroleum gas that was used in the 1990s. More exactly, the public utility suggests restoring the gas storing and bottling stations. The recommendation was made in connection with a gas cylinder blast that occurred in a café in central Chisinau on January 9, IPN reports.

In a press release, SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” says the gas storing and bottling stations will monitor and inspect the technical state of cylinders, will carry out internal and external examinations and will do hydraulic pressure tests.

The company considers the duties of the State Main Inspectorate for the technical supervision of dangerous industrial facilities and the National Agency for Energy Regulation should include the technical supervision and control of gas storing and bottling stations.

About 20 persons needed medical care as a result of the January 9 blast. Three of the victims were transported to Bucharest for treatment. Afterward, three of the persons who suffered injuries in the explosion died.
