Independent candidate for mayor of Chisinau Mihai Godea, in a news conference on Tuesday, said that the Public Opinion Barometer did not take into account his candidacy and thus the respondents could not choose him as a possible voting option, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The fact that the Public Opinion Barometer did not include candidate Mihai Godea caused confusion. I entered the election campaign on May 16, together with Dorin Chirtoaca. I wasn’t included, but he was. I made public my intention to run for the mayoralty on May 4, when the poll was launched and they may have modified the questionnaire if they wanted,” said Mihai Godea. The candidate said that he expressed his concerns about the results of the Public Opinion Barometer on May 3. He stressed that confidence in the main state institutions reached historical lows. According to him, this opinion poll is one of the most relevant as regards the spirits of the nation. In another development, the candidate said he will demand that the president of Jurnal Trust Media give him the right to reply as articles that discredited him were published on the organization’s website and in the paper Jurnal de Chisinau. “After I announced that I defected from the Liberal Democratic Party and will run as an independent for the mayoralty, I came under the spotlight of Jurnal Trust Media, namely the newspaper Jurnal de Chisinau. I was never contacted by the paper’s journalists to be asked to comment on those articles,” said Mihai Godea. He also said that he will make the request to Jurnal Trust Media today, May 31.
