The editorial offices of the channels Publika TV, Prime, Canal 2 and Canal 3 condemn the more often attacks by the leaders and representatives of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA) on journalists, including their reporters and cameramen, IPN reports, quoting a public call issued by the four broadcasters.
The call says the last case of brutalization was against the crew of Canal 3 near the Chisinau Appeals Court on June 13. The journalists were mistreated for the simple reason that they tried to obtain answers to several questions put to the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase.
“The physical and verbal assault of our colleagues became a practice in the aggressive behavior of these politicians and this fact was repeatedly condemned by media outlets. The first attacks on the journalists of our TV channels were witnessed in the autumn of 2015 and these continue until now. It is regrettable that the violence against journalists is used by the leaders of the PPDA or at his call. Politician Andrei Nastase called the journalists imbeciles and failures in public” says the call.
The signatures call on the international media outlets and embassies in Chisinau to take attitude to the aggressive behavior of the representatives of the PPDA and of politicians from other parties. “We hope that the whole political class will renounce the attacks on the press. The use of violence by politicians against journalists is a practice that has nothing to do with the rule of law,” say the authors of the call.
