Public association offers Chisinau City Hall 500 rapid tests intended for teachers

The public association “Positive Initiative” donated 500 rapid antigen tests to the Chisinau City Hall for the free testing of employees of schools of the capital city. The tests will be distributed to the local medical associations according to the geographical proximity to education institutions, IPN reports.

The municipality said that this is the first initiative of partnership between the Chisinau City Hall and civil society in the field and expressed its recognition for the made gesture.

The City Hall will soon purchase tests for providing the teachers and ancillary personnel with them when need be. At this stage, it was agreed that groups of doctors will go to education institutions to discuss with teachers about the benefits of vaccination and those who will want will be able to get a vaccine at the workplace.

In the capital city, the COVID-19 vaccination rate among school employees is of about 85%. Until a rate of 90% is reached, the unvaccinated personnel will present the result of a COVID-19 test once in two weeks. The Government decided that the unvaccinated teachers will have to do the test at their own expense, but the authorities of Chisinau municipality announced that they will cover these costs.
