The Party of Socialists (PSRM) so far has collected over 300,000 signatures in favor of the switchover from the parliamentary republic to the presidential form of government in Moldova and anticipates that the figure will rise to over 1 million at the start of next February. The politician noted that the about 1 million signatures are to be collected until February 2, which President Igor Dodon proposed to be declared the Day of Statehood of the Republic of Moldova. “Based on the collected signatures, changes will be made to the program of the Party of Socialists and other party documents at the extraordinary congress of the PSRM that was set for next spring,” said Zinaida Grecheanyi.
She also said that reporting conferences and elections will be held next week in all the district and local organizations of the PSRM with a view to preparing for the parliamentary elections. The list of the party’s candidates for single-member constituencies will be compiled as a result of primaries. “We are convinced that the list of candidates for each single-member constituency for the parliamentary elections should be compiled not by the party’s representatives and staff, but by citizens who represent the given constituencies. In the nearest future, there will be launched the procedure for fielding candidates who will take part in the internal primaries on behalf of the Party of Socialists. Each regional organization of the PSRM will field its own candidates for forming the party list,” stated the Socialist leader.
In another development, the members of the PSRM thanked the residents of Chisinau municipality who didn’t remain indifferent to the fate of the city. “We will continue to struggle for each voter who took part in the referendum on the dismissal of the mayor general. We will also struggle for all the inhabitants of Chisinau even if some became victims of the game of the parties of the right,” said Zinaida Grecheanyi.
