PSRM: ACUM misled its own voters

The Party of Socialists regrets ‘the ostrich policy’ adopted by the bloc ACUM, which preferred to bury its head in the sand and to ignore the subsequent political development of the country, the party’s secretary for ideology Ion Ceban stated in a press briefing following the bloc’s refusal to initiate discussions with the Socialists on the formation of a parliamentary majority, IPN reports.

According to Ion Ceban, by such a position ACUM misled its own voters to whom it promised to reform the political class and to solve the country’s social and economic problems. In reality, they prefer to form the opposition.

Ion Ceban also said that no law can be adapted as long as the administration of Parliament is not chosen. The bills proposed by ACUM cannot be adopted and implemented in the absence of a government. The PSRM considers it is not right to replace some of the illegalities with others. “To save the country, we need a parliamentary majority. ACUM declared it does not want a parliamentary majorly. Their approaches and statements are populist and in parts show incompetence as to the working mechanisms in the legislature,” he stated.

The PSRM, after ACUM’s refusal, will convoke the party’s administrative bodies to decide the subsequent steps. The Socialists could announce their political agenda after the first meeting of the new legislature. Until then they will analyze the most suitable scenarios in the current situation.

The electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS rejected the Party of Socialists’ invitation to have a dialogue and discuss the formation of a parliamentary majority. In a press briefing, the leaders of ACUM reminded that before the elections all the bloc’s candidates for MP signed a public commitment, promising they will not form alliances with oligarchic and anti-European parties and time has come for this commitment to be respected. The leaders of the bloc said the adoption of a set of bills to free the state institution from captivity, to establish the rule of law and build a democratic state is the best solution in the created situation. They will also propose annulling the mixed electoral system and forming three parliamentary commissions of inquiry. One commission will investigate the banking fraud and would oblige the National Bank to present the Kroll 2 report. Another commission will determine the consequences of the implementation of the law on capital amnesty and the third commission will investigate money laundering operations.

In the February 24 parliamentary elections, the PSRM won 35 seats of MP, the Democratic Party – 30 seats, the electoral bloc ACUM – 26 seats and the Shor Party – seven seats. Three independent candidates also entered Parliament.
