Following Sunday’s local elections, the Socialist Party is proposing to the bloc ACUM to form alliances in district and local councils, where possible. PSRM deputy Vasile Bolea reiterated the proposal during a talk show on TV8, as ACUM/PAS lawmaker Vladimir Bolea avoided a direct answer.
The PSRM deputy says the proposal to form majorities is specially for the bloc ACUM. Vasilie Bolea also mentioned that it is too early to talk specifically about a majority formation in the local and district councils and that mandates should be validated first.
Vladimir Bolea says that the National Political Council of PAS must be convened first in order to take such a decision. Moreover, the decision must be taken at CNP level of both parties that form the bloc ACUM. “Any type of coalition is made with national interest in mind and based on the possibility of creating opportunities for solving the problems of Moldovan citizens. This is the only purpose when creating coalitions. Coalitions are not created for the sake of coalitions, but only if we have the possibility, being in a coalition, to solve people’s problems,” said Vladimir Bolea.
Also, the PAS deputy suggested that he would prefer coalitions with the representatives of small parties that have one or two councilors, rather than with the councilors representing the Democratic Party. Vladimir Bolea said that these majorities will be formed on a case by case basis, in order to carry out reforms.
Democrat MP Vladimir Cebotari avoided a clear answer about whether Democratic Party representatives will enter coalitions at the local level. “Our purpose in the councils is to help residents with their problems, and whether in a coalition or not, we will unite on the basis of these problems. I am glad it is not only us that think so. If we can reach an understanding we will go forward,” said Vladimir Cebotari.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, in some districts and municipalities of the country have been already formed majorities, as some political parties accumulated more than 50% of the votes. Therefore, PSRM accumulated over 53% of the votes in the Council in Dondușeni and Our Party accumulated 52% of the votes in Bălți municipality. PSRM has also accumulated 52% in Ocnița and Șor Party 52% in Orhei. In the other districts the majorities will be formed by the representatives of at least two political groups.
