PSDM qualifies Transnistrian referendum as a total failure of Moldova’s government

The Social-Democrat Party of Moldova does not recognize the referendum organized on September 17 in the Transnistrian region, which can not have legal consequences, in light of international laws. PSDM considers as inadmissible any action of the administration from the self-proclaimed republic, which lead to tensions and destabilization of the region’s state of affairs. PSDM qualifies, in a press release, the Transnistrian independence referendum as a total failure of the policies used by the government of the Republic of Moldova in solving the Transnistrian dispute, democratization of the country, political and economical reformation of the state and solving social problems. Social-democrats say that in those over 5 years of communists’ government, the life standards have worsened, and Moldova did not become more attractive for the citizens living on the left side of Nistru. The inconsequent, aggressive and chaotic politics promoted over the last few years, the authoritarian methods of governing and repressing democracy led to aggravation of the situation and pushed Moldova on the brink of a serious crisis. PSDM is convinced that territorial reintegration and sustainable development of Moldova are possible only if the current policy will be changed and on this ground to reestablish the trust between parties and resuming the negotiation process.
