The declaration condemning party switching, which was launched by the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), was signed by seven parties, including the authors.
“We are honored to announce that the declaration has been signed by seven pro-European parties, namely the European Social Democratic Party, the Dignity and Truth Platform, the Coalition for Unity and Welfare, the League of Towns and Communes, the Party of Change, the People Power Party, the Green Ecological Party,” said PSDE leader Ion Sula.
According to him, the seven pro-European parties set an example of solidarity, commitment and respect for the fundamental values, such as democracy, transparency and political integrity. “Unfortunately, two parties in Parliament, both the ruling PAS party and the opposition PSRM party, didn’t respond to the request to sign the declaration on party switching and chose to distance themselves from this initiative, denying their own promises given to the entire society,” noted Ion Sula.
In the same conference, the PSDE leader said that the party will have its own candidate in the presidential election of October 20. At the same time, the party will urge its members and sympathizers to participate in the referendum and support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
A month ago, the European Social Democratic Party issued a declaration condemning party switching and urged all the parties, regardless of their political color, to sign it. According to the PSDE, thus the parties will commit themselves to condemn this phenomenon, not to allow the abusive use of administrative, budgetary resources and European funds for political purposes and for encouraging party switching.
