PSD members against fusion with PDM
Most of the members of the National Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) rejected the memorandum on the merger between the PSD and the Democratic Party (PDM) signed on December 5 by the National Council's head Iurie Bolboceanu and the Democrats' leader Marian Lupu, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the PSD's press service.
The position was expressed at a meeting of the National Council of the PSD last weekend, where only 29 members of the Council of the 84 attending said they are in favor of the merger.
The meeting decided to co-opt new members into the National Council and into the PSD's Political Bureau. It was also agreed that the 12th ordinary Congress of the PSD will be held on April 17, 2010.
The memorandum signed by Iurie Bolboceanu and Marian Lupu says that as a result of the merger between the two parties, the PSD will be absorbed into the PDM.
