Prut River levels rise, but no flood risk

From March 11 to 13, water levels on the upper Prut River are expected to rise by 30 to 90 centimeters due to the seasonal rainfall and snowmelt in the Ukrainian Carpathians. In Moldova, the event will be felt on the river’s segment from Criva to Costești, but the State Hydrometeorological Service says there is no risk of flooding.

On the Nistru River, levels will rise by 15 to 25 centimeters on the segment between Naslavcea and Dubăsari. This will depend on the discharge of the Novodnistrovsk dam.

No significant changes are expected on other segments of the Nistru and the Prut, or smaller rivers of the country.

Meanwhile, air temperatures will drop a bit in the next couple of days, but will still remain above seasonal average. On Saturday and Sunday early morning, an atmospheric front passing over the country will cause rains to fall on extended areas. Winds will blow slightly stronger and gustier at the weekend.
