Civic activists seek the revision of the law on animal protection and rights so that it meets the needs of all animals, not just pets. In a protest mounted front of the Parliament Building by the organization "Human Society", activists asked for the revision of the law adopted by the legislature in the spring of 2023, IPN reports.
The protesters said that the current law only protects pets, leaving other animals unprotected. The law leaves room for the capture of animals and their euthanizing.
"We request to revise draft law No. 189, regarding the protection of animals. Initially, the bill included all animals, but along the way it was reduced only to pets and ended up being a non-functional law," said Anastasia Cozlovschi, a representative of "Human Society".
For a year and a half, members of the organization submitted petitions to the authorities, but have not received any responses, as they said.
