A demonstration is been staged in front of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia. Among the demonstrators are many persons who took part in previous protests - supporters of Ilan Shor, IPN’s correspondent in Comrat reports.

Members of the Pobeda (“Victory”) bloc in Comrat distributed placards that read: Freedom for Eugenia Guțul, No to repressions in Gagauzia, etc.

Among the officials who joined the demonstrators are MP Alexandr Suhodolski, activists of the Victory bloc, the Bashkan’s adviser Mihail Vlah, and  members of the Executive Committee.

Vlah said that Guțul's arrest is a measure of pressure on the Gagauz autonomous unit, revenge taken for the referendum on European integration.

According to the deputy chairman of the Gagauz Executive Committee Ilia Uzun, the Bashkan "is not guilty of anything and entered politics clean."

For his part, Mihail Vlah announced an extraordinary meeting of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia for 11 a.m.
