Members and sympathizers of the Party of Communists and Shor Party on Wednesday protested against the rise in water charges in front of the National Agency for Energy Regulation. They said they are dissatisfied with the fact that the water rates were increased in a number of districts and are to be also raised in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The protesters accused the government of making the people suffer hardships. These cannot cope with the unprecedented price rises and cannot pay more for water.
Communist MP Valeriu Muduc said all the recent price increases are due to the incompetence of the government that is unable to provide solutions to remedy the situation. If the citizens had had better living conditions, they would have easier coped with the rises in prices.
“They tell us to economize on gas, electricity and now we will also have to economize on water. In the civilized countries, in times of crisis the Government resigns voluntarily. Our Government should also leave and snap parliamentary elections should be held. We must be united so as to be able to improve things and we should become involved and not stay aside,” said Shor Party MP Reghina Apostolova.
Chisinau councilor of Shor Party Serghei Burgudji said the pensioners suffer the most and they started to economize on food as well. Now they will have to use less water too.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation hasn’t commented on the protest yet.
