Parliament adopted legislation that introduces protection zones around historic monuments prohibiting constructions within certain radii.

In urban areas, the radius of the protection zone is 100 meters, in rural areas is 200 meters, and outside built-up areas is 500 meters.

The damages caused to a monument shall be covered by the owner or administrator of that monument, as well as by the legal entities or individuals that initiated, funded or carried out the construction. Failure to do so can lead to the Ministry of Culture taking legal action to recover damages through expropriation.
