Prosecutors ask to suspend Valeriu Triboi from post

Anticorruption prosecutors sent a letter to the Government whereby they request that Valeriu Triboi should be suspended from the post of deputy minister of economy following his investigation, IPN reports.

Also today, April 3, the Chisinau Court decided that Valeriu Triboi will be placed under house arrested for 30 days. 

The deputy minister, who pleads not guilty, was arrested as a result of searches carried out at the Ministry of Economy on March 31. He is suspected of abuse of power and causing of considerable damage to the state budget.

Valeriu Triboi is suspected of buying a building to the value of almost 1 million lei from SA “Moldtelecom”, whose founder is the Ministry of Economy, through the agency of third persons. Afterward, the functionary leased out the building for a period of 10 years to the company “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord”.

The prosecutors also asked for arrest warrants for the four persons detained in the same case on April 1. These include an adviser to the functionary and the director of “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord”.
