The inventorying, documentation and studying of the traditional elements of the cultural heritage continue to be topical problems, Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica said in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum 2014 that was held on May 6, IPN reports.
According to the deputy minister, raising awareness of society is an important step towards promoting the intangible heritage. “The law makes not only the authorities, but also society responsible,” stated Gheorghe Postica.
Iulian Filip, a member of the Commission for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Moldova, said the Western societies take care of their inheritance and develop it. “When you go to France, Germany, Italy, you can see everywhere vestiges of culture. I fear not much of the cultural inheritance will remain in Moldova if we ignore it,” he stated.
The safeguarding of cultural heritage is a component part of the cultural integrity, said Diana Dicusara, director of the National Center for the Conservation and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. “We are ready to help all those who want to consult the methodology concerning a custom and to attest the value of a folk song or a tradition. We often make field trips, but we need to establish cooperation relations at local level,” she stated.
