Project to set up Center for Centralized Public Procurement in Health

The Ministry of Health will constitute the Center for Centralized Public Procurement in Health. A draft Government decision to this effect was proposed for public consultations, IPN reports.

The Center could become an efficient instrument for ensuring the planning of public procurement of medicines and medical devices for health facilities. Afterward, based on the collected data, there will be compiled a list of medicines and medical devices that need to be purchased for the health system.

The Center will monitor the implementation of the public procurement contracts and will inform the Ministry of Health about the contract implementation level at request or when required. It will have the status of public, nonprofit institution with financial autonomy, founded by the Ministry of Health.

The Center will have ten employees. It is to be financed with the commission of 0.5% of the value of each public procurement contract signed with health facilities.
