The celebration of Europe Day in the European Village in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau will be inaugurated on May 9 at 12:00, with the participation of President Maia Sandu and European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn. The program will continue with an interactive fair. The visitors of the European Village will be able to take part in quizzes, challenge games and other activities designed to attract and entertain. In the evening, starting at 19:00., a a thematic concert will be given, entitled “Europe is YOU!”, with the participation of local artists, but also of the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra, IPN reports.
On the makeshift alley “Team Europe”, EU member states will present their support to the Republic of Moldova. Each EU mission will showcase their unique traditions and heritage.
On the alley “EU-Moldova: Stronger together”, EU-funded projects will be presented. Through interactive exhibits and informative presentations, the visitors will gain insight into the impact of these initiatives on the daily lives of the Moldovan citizens.
There will be put up the “European Moldova” pavilion – a pavilion of the Government and Parliament of the Republic of Moldova which presents interactive activities and information about the country’s European path. Also, there will be set up a photo stand for the visitors to take photographs in different formats, a fair of civil society organizations will and a pavilion dedicated to activities for children.
From 12:45, the pavilion for participatory activities for the public will be opened, where the project “Enabling an Inclusive Green Transition in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova, will be launched. Also here, from 14:30, there will be held an open dialogue with the public, contest with prizes and interactive presentations on the topic of the census. Starting at 15:30, children will be able to attend a show with chemical experiments, while from 16:45, all those interested will be able to attend a medical first aid course.
Also from 16:45, there will be staged sessions on topics related to a healthy lifestyle, music, dances for seniors and other thematic masterclasses. A gatronomic zone will open – a delicious range of culinary delights from different EU countries will highlight traditional cuisine and drinks.
A live music concert will start at 16:45. It will feature Lidia Isac, representing French culture, the Euroclub of ULIM, representing the culture of the Republic of Moldova, a Romanian violinist, representing Romanian culture, and the Bulgarian folk band of Taraclia.
From 16:30 to 17:00, Slovak opera singer Tatiana Hajzušová will give a concert, accompanied by a Slovak pianist recommended by the Embassy of Slovakia in the Republic of Moldova. From 17:00 to 18:00, there will be a tango concert at the Palace of the Republic, organized by the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova.
From 19:00 to 22:00, there will be held a concert dedicated to Europe Day 2024: “Europe is YOU!”. It will involve the Ensemble of folk songs and dances “Fluieraș” together with Adriana Ochișanu, Cornelia Ștefăneț and Nicolae Glib (Moldova), Cristofor Aldea Teodorovici (Moldova), Ambassador of the European Union to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks, Calancea’s Wolves (Moldova), Kalush Orchestra (Ukraine), Satoshi (Moldova).
Europe Day will also be marked in the regions of the Republic of Moldova, on May9-26. On May 19, the European Village will be organized in Vasile Alecsandri Square in Balti.
