Professor of economics appointed on central bank’s supervisory board

Parliament today approved the appointment of Ion Lapteacru as member of the National Bank’s supervisory board.

Before returning to Moldova for the job, Lapteacru taught economics at the prestigious Montesquieu University in France.

During 2017-2020, he coordinated scientific and pedagogical collaboration projects at the Montesquieu University, within the Erasmus+ program, including international student mobility projects that also included prestigious universities in Romania.

Ion Lapteacru also studied and worked in Moldova. In 2000, he graduated from the Faculty of Banks and Exchanges at the Moldovan Academy of Economic Studies, and from the Faculty of Theoretical Physics at the State University.

In the early 2000s, he worked as an economist in Moldovan commercial banks, and between 2004 and 2019, Ion Lapteacru was co-founder and board member of the Expert-Grup think-tank.

He is a member of the European Economic Association and Association Française des Sciences Économiques, author of articles and book chapters, participates in international conferences and continuous improvement courses.

Ion Lapteacru takes over the position of member of the SC after the expiration of Vadim Enicov’s mandate.

The supervisory board is made up of seven members, being responsible for organizing an effective system of independent public supervision of the NBM's activity. The board has a set of duties: approves the annual report and annual financial statements; adopts the standards of the internal control system, continuously checks and evaluates the operation of the internal control system; adopts the norms of professional ethics in the NBM, etc.
