Procedure of electing district heads will change
The MPs approved at its first reading a draft law that prevents district councils to elect the district heads at the inaugural meeting. The Communists didn’t support the measuure, claiming that this will only delay the election of district heads, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Anatol Dimitriu, author of the draft law, said that the measure aims to prevent legality conflicts in the procedure of electing district heads. Currently, district heads are elected without the approval of the specialized commissions, because at the inaugural meeting of councils, these commissions aren’t formed yet. This is why many cases end up in court.
According to the draft law, the first meeting will be dedicated to creating groups, alliances, blocs and appointing the permanent commissions. Only at the second meeting, which can be convened by 1/3 of the councilors, can the district head be elected.
The proposal has to pass one more reading to become law.
