Privatization process of the living spaces of Chisinau was resumed starting August 1
Starting August 1, the Municipal Privatization Department started its activity. In this way the privatization process was resumed after a pause of 4 years. The headquarters of the Municipal Privatization Commission will be located on 31 August 1989 Street, 87. Those who want to privatize their dwellings can submit applications from Monday to Thursday, between 8:00 and 12:00.
According to the head of the Privatization Departement, Mihai Cojocaru, the commission receives the documents, makes decisions and issues selling-buying contracts and privatization or non-privatization certificates. Cojocaru said that according to the Law on living spaces privatization, the services of the privatization commission are paid by the citizens, and the tariffs will be approved by the Municipal Council. In order to expertise an apartment, issue a selling-buying contract and conclude the decision, a tariff of MDL 50 will be proposed. The tax for issuing certificates of participation non-participation in the privatization process will be proposed to be settled at MDL 30.
According to the legislation, some categories of citizens, including disabled people of I and II degree, persons who fought for the integrity of the Republic of Moldova benefit from facilities in the privatization process, Mihai Cojocaru states.
Until now, over 160 thousand apartments were privatized in Chisinau. The number of dwellings left unprivatized is not known but it is decreasing, fact which can be explained by the construction boom of the last period.
The Chisinau Municipal Council instituted the Privatization Department of the living spaces on June 11, 2006, complying with the amendments operated to the legislation, by which the right to privatize the state property of dwellings within the administrative-territorial unit was attributed to the local body.
