The European integration is a “dance of two” and, if a partner commits deviations, the other one is obliged to react appropriately so that the process is not compromised. This is one of the messages delivered by politologist Dionis Cenușa by an analysis article for IPN Agency. Otherwise, particular important reforms or critical political situations could be mutilated, leading to the destabilization of state constructions. The expert gives the banking fraud committed in Moldova as an example. Even if this was revealed in 2014, after the signing of the Association Agreement, the EU became more precautious in relation to the Moldovan authorities only in 2016, but delayed imposing political conditionality and this was interpreted as an encouragement by the Moldovan government. In 2017, this modified the electoral system in non-transparent conditions and in 2018 already invalidated the mayoral elections in Chisinau!
In another development, Dionis Cenușa stated the democracies in Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova stagnate under the pressure of oligarchic groups, while the rule of law is fragile owing to corruption and/or politicized anti-corruption institutions.
Regrettably, the opinions formulated by the president of the Center for Conflict Prevention and Early Warning, foreign policy expert Iulian Chifu are full of concerns. According to him, the arguments presented by Moldova in three problematic cases in the relations with the European Union – conviction of Vlad Filat and non-conviction of Ilan Shor, adoption of the mixed-member electoral system and invalidation of the local mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality – are not convincing in the communication with the EU. “The arguments are not convincing and cannot be placed in the context of the European rules.”

The public continues to be concerned about the tragic incident that occurred on Moscovei Blvd in Chisinau. The Chisinau Municipal Council decided to allocate 10 million lei for mitigating the consequences of the blast that rocked the apartment building. Four persons, one of whom a child, died in the blast. A fireman hurt during the rescue operation and a woman in whose apartment the explosion occurred, who suffered serious burns, remain hospitalized. The Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office took legal action.
Things are not yet clear as regards the airline “Air Moldova” To satisfy the curiosity of the public, in a press briefing at the Chisinau International Airport, Blue Air director general Marius Puiu said the activity of Air Moldova will continue to center on the extension of flights and creation of a high-quality product at reasonable prices for Moldovan citizens and not only.
Answering journalists’ questions, Marius Puiu said the debts of Air Moldova will be cleared within the next four months. The name and identity of the airline will not be changed. The director general congratulated Air Moldova on its entry into the family of Blue Air, which has over 1,500 employees and more than 30 planes.
