There is no radiological risk to the health of the population of the Republic of Moldova, the National Public Health Agency has said following reports about an incident at the Rybnitsa Metallurgical Plant that resulted in emissions of harmful substances. According to the Agency, the gamma dosage is within the limits of the average values typical for the country’s territory and does not exceed the admitted values in accordance with the Fundamental Radioprotection Norms.

PDM vice president Andrian Candu said the representatives of the bloc ACUM are expected to come to discussions the next few days, until this Sunday. If this invitation is not accepted either, the PDM will convoke again the party’s executive committee to decide the further steps.

The bloc ACUM didn’t change its position and will not accept the PDM’s second invitation to have a dialogue on the formation of the parliamentary majority either. According to the bloc’s representative Sergiu Litvinenko, they will not have negotiations with those who are responsible for the capturing of the state.

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) didn’t announce a clear agenda for the eventual discussions with the bloc ACUM (NOW) on the formation of a coalition. The Socialists shouldn’t have initiated preliminary discussions, but should have proposed negotiations from the start. At the same time, the bloc ACUM has less experience in politics and, after rejecting the PSRM’s proposal, showed that it does not have a common position, expert in political sciences Victor Stepaniuc and jurist Sergey Mishin stated in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

According to Maia Sandu, co-president of the bloc ACUM and leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), the party aims to build a state with the rule of law and to free the state institutions from captivity and to then invest in them and make sure that these work in the interests of the citizens. In this regard, the bloc proposed a package of bills addressed to the other elected MPs and they will see how many of these really want to represent the people’s interests. This package envisions the creation of three commissions of inquiry, one of which would investigate the banking fraud, and a number of dismissals, including of the prosecutor general.

The Romanian citizens in Moldova are urged to support the team of the People’s Movement Party of Romania (PMP) in the May 26 European Parliament elections. According to Eugen Tomac, the EU has now on the left side of the Prut  almost 1 million European citizens, Moldovans who regained the Romanian nationality, and this objective should not be stopped.  This is also the reason for which the PMP wants to go to Brussels with the message: “All the Romanians untied in Europe”. The European project is now threatened by people who struggle openly against the EU, while the Romanians are obliged to defend this project as more integration will help more the EU in the future.

About 20 agricultural producers will take part in a grape fair in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in Chisinau on March 24. The producers that in March remained with the cold storage facilities full of grapes will exhibit “Moldova” and white sorts for about 50 lei per a container of 8.5 kg. Last year a kilogram of grapes was 12.5 lei. It is an opportunity for buyers to purchase grapes at symbolic prices, especially during Lent, when the people eat mainly vegetal products and are willing to do good things.

The authorities intend to reduce the food waste per capita by 30% over ten years and by 50% over 15 years. The fight against food waste involves measures to mobilize and make more responsible the producers, providers and sellers, consumers and associations working in the agrifood sector so as to maximally use the comestible resources. The authorities aim to use the unsold and unused products that are yet fit for human consumption for donations and other transformation purposes. The products could be turned into food for animals, compost for agriculture or energy.

During the procedures for electing the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Valeriu Pasat said the Academy of Sciences of Moldova is an autonomous public institution of national interest, independent from the public authorities, but its members are now politicized and if the politicization in the Academy and corruption are not stopped, the institution will disappear. He refused yet to become involved, arguing he would take part in such a contest if this was transparent and free from political influence, but would not take part in a ‘show’ where the winner is already known

The authorities estimate the revenues in the Moldova IT Park this year will be by about 40% higher compared with last year and will total 2.6 billion lei. According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici, this shows that the information technology market develops dynamically. In a meeting with the administration and residents of the Moldova IT Park, the minister said the IT sector in Moldova develops steadily and the model of the virtual IT Park is the key stimulator in this process.
