After CEC member Iurie Ciocan criticized the most recent report by Promo-LEX Association, calling it interference in the electoral process and inappropriate influencing of voters, WatchDog expert Valeriu Pașa said that if such reports hadn’t existed, the thirst of those who hold power and unlimited resources for rigging the elections by different methods would have grown considerably.

On the same issue, journalist Arcadie Gherasim said in a country that considers itself faithful to the democratic values, such reactions as that of the CEC member Iurie Ciocan should not exist. Promo-LEX does the work of many state institutions that do not do their job and do not examine reported cases. The Central Election Commission should be bothered by the fact that some of the electoral contenders break the law and, if this thing is proven, measures should be taken to punish these violations. “Mister Ciocan considers such monitoring should not take place. Then, why doesn’t he suggest liquating also the independent press that informs the citizens about such monitoring?” he asked.

One of the tasks of the mixed electoral system was to separate the protesting voters, said the executive director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives Vlad Kulminski. “If we in the current election campaign speak about the country development plans, ideology, goals and common tasks for society and the country, the ruling party would fail with such an agenda. That’s why the protesting voters had to be dispersed and 52 campaigns plus a referendum had to be staged instead of one clear national campaign,” stated Vlad Kulminski.

The president of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă will run in single-member constituency No. 32 Chisinau that includes polling places No. 285-288 in Bubuieci commune; No. 289 and 290 in Budești; No. 291-294 in Ciorescu; No. 308 and 309 in Colonița; No. 310 in Condrița; No. 259-261 in Cricova, No. 295 in Cruzești; No. 311 and 312 in Ghidighici; No. 296-298 in Grătiești; No. 299-302 in Stăuceni; No. 303 in Tohatin; No. 274-277 in Vadul lui Vodă and No. 278 in Vatra.

According to the website of the Central Election Commission, two candidates have been registered in this constituency so far – the mayor of Budești commune Nina Costiuc, of the Democratic Party, and Svetlana Popa, of the Party of Socialists.

The electors without registered domicile and residence will be able to vote in the parliamentary elections of February 24 for candidates from the national constituency and in the national consultative referendum at any polling place where they will be written on additional electoral lists. These will fill in and sign an own responsibility statement concerning refraining from multiple voting. A decision to this effect was approved by the Central Election Commission in its January 15 meeting.

In 2019, the average official salary will be 6,975 lei, a nominal increase of 9% on 2018 and a real increase of 3.9% according to the last forecast made in September 2018. In a response to IPN, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure said the forecast was made before the fiscal reform was implemented and before the new salary system was introduced in the budgetary sector. Currently, the Ministry of Economy is reviewing the forecast macroeconomic indicators, including the forecast average official salary.

Mobile teams of specialists of the nationwide campaign “A doctor for you”, which include endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, otorhinolaryngologists, neurologists and cardiologists, started work in localities. Poets, writers, composers and politicians on January 15 went to lay flowers at Mihai Eminescu’s bust on the Alley of Classics in the central park of Chisinau. “We every time gather together as like at a symbolic ritual here, near Eminescu, so as to celebrate the birth and rebirth of Eminescu in the Romanian language and for it. On the 169th anniversary of his birth, Eminescu remains our contemporary,” noted the president of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceaveanu.

The most representative works of literature, theater, music, choreography, plastic arts, bibliotechonomy, restoration, cultural heritage and museography of 2018 were awarded at a gala held on the occasion of the National Culture Day at the Place of the Republic.
