The voter turnout and the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections on February 24 will be made available on the website of the Central Election Commission through the agency of an application. The CEC said that for security reasons the link to the application will be announced and activated in the morning of the election day.
The co-presidents of the electoral bloc NOW Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase say they have reasons to believe they have been poisoned with heavy metals including mercury. “I’d been feeling not so well in the recent past so I did some tests. I discovered I had high levels of heavy metals in my blood, and this happened to me and to Mr. Năstase, too. We underwent treatment that reduced those levels. But recent tests have shown another spike and the doctors we have spoken with say such accumulations don’t have a natural explanation. These are (mere) suspicions, but we should take such things seriously considering the attacks and the attitudes shown by the current government against those who imperil their grip on power,” Sandu told reporters.
The Party of Socialists (PSRM) requested the Central Election Commission (CEC) to issue a circular by which all the electoral functionaries would be warned about the inadmissibility of violating the secrecy of the vote. Secretary for ideology of the PSRM Ion Ceban said a lot of signals come, including from state medical and education institutions and other enterprises. The people are imposed to photograph the ballots and to present the pictures to show how they voted, but the law bans this. These are corruption attempts that are punished criminally.
The Socialist Party has notified the Chisinau City Hall of plans to hold a host of “mass meetings of social and cultural nature” in various locations on Saturday and also on Sunday, when Moldovans will go the polls. The United States Embassy in Chisinau on its website has posted a demonstration alert in connection with the parliamentary elections scheduled for February 24. The Embassy noted that as in the past, large public demonstrations are likely to occur after the elections. Even peaceful demonstrations can turn dangerous at any time. Large public gatherings can affect traffic in the city.
The candidates of the electoral bloc ACUM in the national constituency and in single-member constituencies, if they are elected members of the future Parliament, promise not to take part in the formation of a formal or informal government coalition with the Democratic Party, the Party of Socialists, the Shor Party, the Our Party and other pro-oligarchic and anti-European parties. The integrity certificates issued by the National Integrity Authority (NIA) do not represent an integrity filter, as they say, and do not certify to the holder’s integrity. The NIA should have not only ascertaining power, but should also control the integrity of the applicant for an integrity certificate. The subject was discussed in a roundtable meeting staged by the Association of Independent Press of and Moldova Curată. The certificate provides information about the existing legal/juridical restrictions on applying for or holding public posts and the existence or inexistence of definitive ascertaining documents concerning the regime of declaring property and personal interests, states of incompatibility and confiscation of unjustified property.

I mean, if the outcome turns out bad, we could see suspended parties or candidates in various constituencies. The situation was quite different in the past. But now everything is possible”.
