A number of media outlets in the Republic of Moldova on Friday published an extensive document revealing details about "the network of Ilan Shor's supporters". According to the published information, these persons were allegedly involved in the vote-buying schemes applied at the recent referendum and the first round of the presidential election, IPN reports. 

The document contains the names and personal data of those who supposedly participated in those actions, revealing a well-developed organization, with ramifications at national level.

An anonymous police officer is said to have leaked the information. The Nokta portal in the Gagauz autonomous region noted that it received the information from a person who introduced himself as a police officer.

He also explained the reasons why he decided to make public the personal information of the activists – besides names, the list contains home addresses, dates of birth and mobile phone numbers — citing in particular "attempts to discredit and undermine the work of the police and the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS)."

The database was also published by journalists of Nordnews.

The Moldovan police have not yet commented on the possible data leak and their authenticity, but this happens at a time when the authorities are investigating the massive corruption of voters in the first round of the presidential election and the referendum of October 20.

On Thursday, October 24, Moldovan police chief Viorel Cernăuțeanu said that law enforcement officers discovered a $39 million vote-buying scheme implemented in September and October 2024, confirmed by 1.4 million SMS notifications from the Russian bank Promsvyazbank. Cernăuțeanu presumes that the money was distributed in cash.
