President’s Office to spend 42 million lei in 2025

The budget of the staff of the President of the Republic of Moldova grew by over 12 million lei in four years. 42.1 million lei is the amount allocated for 2025, with new administrative priorities and economic adjustments. In 2021, the budget of the President’s Office was 29.7 million lei, IPN reports.

According to data published by the President’s Office, most of the 2025 budget, namely 22 million lei, is intended for employees' salaries. In 2021, 13.3 million lei went on the remuneration of the staff.

A sum of 7 million lei will be spent on protocol services and foreign trips, transport, machinery and repairs.

The non-financial assets of the President’s Office saw a much higher increase in expenditure than other segments presented in the report. In this regard, the budget doubled, amounting to almost 5 million lei in 2025.

Over 2 million lei will go to maintain the building and pay for public utilities. Also, 920,000 lei will be used for current repairs, by 815,000 more than four years ago.

The expenses for leases remained unchanged, at 150,000 lei.

At the same time, 75,000 lei was allocated for the professional training of staff.

In the 2020 election campaign, Maia Sandu promised to reduce the expenses of the President’s Office and to make sure that the public resources are used more efficiently.
