Presidential elections set for December 16
New presidential elections will take place in Moldova in two weeks. Parliament on December 2 adopted a bill to hold the elections on December 16, which was put forward by the Democrat lawmakers, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“No candidate was fielded and the President could not be elected on November 18. Thus, we proposed holding new elections on December 16,” said Democrat MP Raisa Apolskii.
The bill was passed by the parliamentary groups unanimously.
Liberal MP Victor Popa suggested that the special commission for the election of the head of state, which was set up before November 18, should continue its work.
