The name of the candidate for the presidency will be made public at the start of next week at the latest, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu announced, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The candidate will be identified in the negotiations we will hold. Igor Dodon will also be able to know this candidate. We took account of the requirements of the whole society as regards the future President. I cannot and do not want to give names as we are yet to hold debates,” Marian Lupu told the press after the March 7 sitting of Parliament. According to the chairman of the PDM, candidate Veronica Bacalu remains in the agenda of the discussions. “I will not tell you in what area the possible candidate works. We have a list of candidates and we will examine them. It includes Veronica Bacalu as well,” said Marian Lupu. After the sitting, Mihai Ghimpu said that he was betrayed by the alliance, while Marian Lupu replied that he can say the same if he takes into account the political agreement they reached. The legislature scheduled the presidential elections for March 16. Earlier, the setting of the election date was postponed two times at the insistence of the Liberals, who demanded identifying the candidate first and then fixing the date of the elections.
