President Sandu sends congratulatory message to President Trump

President Maia Sandu sent a congratulatory message to U.S. President Donald Trump after his inauguration.

"Moldova values its strong relationship with the U.S. and looks forward to working together with the new administration to promote security, energy cooperation and prosperity for both nations," wrote Maia Sandu.

In a TV show on Monday evening, Maia Sandu confirmed that she was not invited to attend Donald Trump's inauguration.

"I did not receive an invitation. An invitation was received by representatives of the diplomatic corps. We have an extremely important partnership with the U.S. Very large investments were made and will still be made from the money they allocated to us," noted Maia Sandu.

The head of state stressed that Moldova's interest in the relationship with the U.S. is to move from strategic dialogue to strategic partnership. "We enjoy support both in the Democratic Party and in the Republican Party. We always worked with both parties and we will continue doing so," Maia Sandu said.

The 47th President of the United States Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance were officially sworn in at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington on Monday, January 20.
