President of Romania Traian Basescu has been suspended by Parliament on charges of unconstitutional conduct. The official voting record showed 322 pro votes, 108 against, and 10 abstentions. 440 deputies of the total number of 465 law-makers were attending, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Romanian media. According to the cited source, the secret voting procedure started at 14.10, and 35 minutes later, the ballot boxes were taken out of the Session Hall and the counting began. However, the suspension of Romania’s President would have been possible with only 233 pro votes. During the voting procedure, Bucharest residents started to gather in the Piata Universitatii (University Square) to protest against the Parliament decision. President Basescu is expected to appear in the Square later today, as the spokesman of the Presidential Administration confirmed.
