President Dodon about movement of vehicles: Issue was practically resolved

President Igor Dodon said the authorities in Chisinau do not intend to prevent the motor vehicles registered in the Transnistrian region from crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and the authorities in Tiraspol should also not impose bans, IPN reports.

The official told the press that when Tiraspol announced that they will bar the motor vehicles with Moldovan license plates from transiting Transnistria as of January 24, he contacted the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky. “I explained to him that it wasn’t a blockage,” he stated, noting it was agreed to discuss the issue at executive level and this was practically resolved.

Over 100,000 vehicles were officially registered in the Transnistrian region. “Several thousand vehicles already obtained neutral-design license plates and the process is rather lively. This is a good result achieved in the 5+2 format,” stated President Dodon.

A week ago, the Reintegration Office announced that the trial regime applied on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border for motor vehicles registered in the Transnistrian region was suspended on January 20. The data collected by the competent bodies during ten days will be analyzed to determine the demand for trips to Ukraine and for neutral-design license plates on the part of inhabitants of the Transnistrian region.
