Premier Tarlev encourages births’ increase in the Republic of Moldova
Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev asked for the increase in 2007 of the financial support for the delivery of one child from MDL 800 to MDL 1000. This suggestion was made by the premier on Wednesday, September 13, during the Government’s meeting that discussed the Law project of Social insurances budget for 2007.
The project presented in the Government meeting plans the increase of the mentioned indemnity from MDL 800 to MDL 900 both for insured and not insured persons. The project also stipulates the increase of the minimum indemnity for raising a child younger than 3 from MDL 100 to MDL 200. The prime-minister requested his ministers to increase as mush as possible the size of the financial aids.
Previously, premier Tarlev expressed his concerns with the drop of births’ number in the Republic of Moldova. He suggested the young families to have at least three children each – “one for the mother, one for the father and one for the Motherland”.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first semester of 2006 the number of newly-born decreased by 1.5% compared to the same period of 2005. In the same period 23 227 persons deceased, by 5.1 thousand more than there were born. The birth rate, in the same period, is 10.2 infants, and the mortality rate is 13.1 deceased per 1000 persons.
