Premier says resignation means early elections
The Liberal-Democratic Premier Vlad Filat said his resignation means the resignation of the Government and, in the end, early elections, and if Marian Lupu wants this, he should say it openly, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“These demands concerning resignations are very approximate. If somebody wants early elections in Moldova, they should say it openly. The resignation of the Government means the start of the election campaign and of elections. The early elections for Moldova are a bad solution. They mean loss of time and uncertainty in the economic sector,” the Premier told the journalists after the parliamentary hearings.
According to Vlad Filat, the PLDM is ready to continue the dialogue so as to identify solutions together with the alliance partners, while President Nicolae Timofti will play a decisive role in this process. “When the moment for meetings comes, I will take part in them. I’m the person who is directly interested in this,” he stated.
The Democratic leader Marian Lupu suggested a “two steps forward and then back from zero” formula for overcoming the political crisis. According to him, the first step is the resignation of Prime Minister Vlad Filat, while the second step is his resignation as Head of Parliament. Only after this they can have discussions on the re-forming of the Alliance for European Integration.
