Premier Recean in Davos: Moldova is interested in intensifying bilateral cooperation

The strengthening of Moldova’s trade and economic relations with the member states of the European Union and the country’s European path were the topics raised during a series of meetings of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and his European counterparts at the World Economic Forum in Davos, IPN reports.

During discussions with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the Moldovan official said that the authorities continue the reforms initiated in the justice sector and the economic development of Moldova. “The Kingdom of the Netherlands has been an important partner of the Republic of Moldova on our European path over the years. We continue to rely on the support of the Dutch authorities and we are willing to intensify bilateral cooperation in the commercial and economic sectors between our states,” stated Dorin Recean.

The meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković centered on possibilities of learning from Croatia’s experience in the process of joining the European Union. The interlocutors approved of the stimulation of the political dialogue between the two countries.

Premier Recean also had a meeting with his counterpart from Liechtenstein Daniel Risch. The officials noted that the dialogue between the two countries was stepped up, especially after the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association EFTA last year.

In the discussion with the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto, the officials considered possibilities of strengthening the bilateral political dialogue to explore common interests, mainly as regards the European perspective. They also agreed on the common agenda for accelerating the negotiation of agreements in the social, customs and transport sectors in connection with the 30 years of diplomatic relations.

The Government’s actions on the European path, augmentation of bilateral trade and strengthening of cooperation in the fight against corruption were among the topics discussed by Dorin Recean with the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and His Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.

The World Economic Forum in Davos is taking place from 15 to 19 January.
