Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici invited civil society to discussions concerning the anticorruption measures announced by the Government. A meeting on the issue was set for May 15, IPN reports.
“The fight against corruption is the Government’s priority. Therefore the executive put forward a number of initiatives. The bill on the reformation of the prosecution service was approved last week. This week we are discussing corruption fighting measures used in different countries, especially Ukraine, Georgia and Poland, with a team of reformists,” Chiril Gaburici said at the beginning of the May 13 meeting of the Cabinet.
The Premier announced that the head of the National Anticorruption Directorate of Romania Laura Codruta Kovesi will pay a visit to Chisinau next week. “While Missis Codruta Kovesi will be in Chisinau, we will have meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the National Anticorruption Center and the Prosecutor General’s Office,” he stated.
Chiril Gaburici also said that the topics for discussion in the May 15 meeting with representatives of civil society will include the fight against corruption and the reform of the law enforcement bodies. There will be identified the most acute problems and solutions to them.
