Prime Minister Ion Chicu urges all the citizens to purchase masks and to wear them in public places. “Each citizen, each of us should take care of our health when going out and should wear masks,” the official said in the Cabinet meeting held in the evening of June 12, IPN reports.
Ion Chicu said that an increasing number of factories started to make face masks in Moldova. “There are enough masks on the market, but the prices in drugstores and in other trading units are high, even if the producers sell them at reasonable prices. I will ask again the Ministry of Finance and the colleagues responsible for price monitoring to carry out a campaign these days and determine if the highest profit margin is respected by companies,” said the official.
According to him, the employees of the Ministry of the Interior and other responsible institutions were instructed to patrol again the public places in a large number so as to follow how the citizens obey the sanitary-epidemiological rules. “We should ask and persuade the people to obey, but the police can further impose those heavy fines if the citizens do not comply. Regrettably, we see an irresponsible attitude, especially on the part of young people,” noted the Premier, adding the police and employees of other institutions were instructed to act harshly if the rules are not obeyed.
He reiterated that the people without masks will not be allowed access to trading units.
