PPPDA protests against wrongdoings at CFM. Reaction of CFM director

The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) protested in front of the Government Building, demanding to settle the salary arrears at Moldova’s Railways (CFM) and not to allow the company to go bankrupt. On the other hand, Oleg Tofilat, the new director of CFM, promised that they will fully pay the overdue salaries for last December during two weeks and later the employees will get by a pay each month. He assured that the company will not go bankrupt during the next six months, IPN reports.

PPPDA vice president Alexandru Slusari said that 25% of all the goods that are imported into or exported from Moldova are conveyed through Moldova’s Railways, which has thousands of square meters of buildings, lots and employees. The average salary at the company is 4,300 lei, but the employees haven’t received their pays for five-six months, even if they continue to work.

The politician noted the company had been used by several criminal governments to obtain gains. Twenty of the 23 criminal cases started by the National Anticorruption Center over illegalities at this company were dropped. Searches were carried out, but no person was arrested as the judiciary remains captured. Only a new government can start the process of remedying the situation there.

PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase said that he discussed with employees of Moldova’s Railways in Ungheni yesterday and he learned that the situation there is disastrous as the people do not have money at least for bread.

PPPDA candidate for MP Inga Grigoriu said the employees of the Ocnița branch of Moldova’s Railways were remunerated last in December 2020. They people there are paid 2,600 to 4,500 lei and they continue to work without being remunerated. It is impossible to live without pay for such a long period of time.

PPPDA candidate Ion Terguță noted that no money was invested in the CFM during 30 years as someone wants to appropriate this and other state-run enterprises by fraudulent schemes. He called on the people to join in so that the CFM is revitalized.

Candidate Kiril Moțpan made public the PPPDA’s statement on the situation at Moldova’s Railways, which says that the PPPDA categorically condemns the state policy on this company, where multiple appropriation schemes organized by Plahotniuc-Dodon are tolerated, the company was brought to its knees, while the over 6,500 employees are subject to a social genocide by not being paid salaries during five-six months.

The PPPDA pledged to take urgent measures after the elections of July 11 to improve the situation at Moldova’s Railways by transferring the company under the direct management of the Government and by declaring the CFM a strategic facility.

After the protest, the participants marched to the head office of the CFM situated on Vlaicu Pârcălab St, where they discussed with the company’s new director Oleg Tofilat and transmitted the PPPDA’s statement to him. Oleg Tofilat said the salary arrears for December 2020 will be cleared within two weeks and by one salary will be later paid to the staff each month. They will implement a plan for improving the situation and the company during the next six months will not go bankrupt.
