The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) made an approach to the Central Election Commission, asking to adopt a special decision by which to ban the organized transportation of voters to polling stations on the day of the snap parliamentary elections. The request was made in the context of the previous situations witnessed in the electoral process. The PPPDA warned the CEC about the possibility of some of the election contenders resorting to election rigging by using illegal transportation of voters, IPN reports.
In a press release, the PPPDA says that the organized transportation of voters from the eastern districts is aimed at influencing the results of free and fair elections by political corruption. The party offered video evidence of voter corruption with money at the local elections of 2019. Also, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office is handling a criminal case started over illegal transportation and corruption of voters.
“The organized transportation of voters from the eastern region of the Republic of Moldova should be classed as a serious form of violation of the internationally recognized standards concerning the organization of democratic and free elections. Such violations create preconditions for questioning the legality and legitimacy of elections, offering some of the political contenders the possibility of rigging and manipulating for electoral purposes,” runs the press release.
The PPPDA notes that it is the only political party that filed a complaint about the organized transportation of voters at the last presidential elections of 2020.
