PPDM candidate for mayor of Chisinau applies to be registered
The vice president of the Democratic People’s Party (PPDM) Mihai Manoli was fielded as a candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau. On April 22, he submitted the documents for being registered as a runner to the Chisinau district electoral council, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A former Minister of Finance, Mihai Manoli was Moldova’s Ambassador to the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and Moldova’s Representative at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He also held different posts at BC Moldova Agroindbank and Universalbank.
The Humanist Party headed by former head of the Security and Information Service Valeriu Pasat changed its name into the Democratic People’s Party at the end of March, when the party’s statutes and program were renewed. In the November 28, 2010 parliamentary elections, the Humanist Party did not poll the number of votes needed to enter the legislature.
