The rolling blackout schedule has been revised by the administration in Tiraspol. Starting today, January 7, residents will be without electricity from 12:00 to 16:00 and then again from 20:00 to 24:00, reports Tiraspol-based media, as cited by IPN.
The reason for revising the schedule is the imbalance between energy consumption and production. To reduce strain on the grid, residents are encouraged to use stoves, solid and liquid fuel boilers, or to purchase electric generators.
The new schedule for all eight local sectors, which will be without power during the Old-Style Christmas, has been published. The most affected areas include the cities of Tiraspol, Bender (Tighina), Ribnita, Camenca, Dubasari, Grigoriopol, and Slobozia.
Electricity consumption in residential areas on the left bank of the Nistru has doubled, according to the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan. He noted that the overloading of the power grid has created a deficit of nearly 65 MW in the region.
The left bank is supplied with electricity by MGRES, which operates on coal, and the Dubăsari Hydropower Plant. The Cuciurgan Power Plant reportedly has coal reserves sufficient until the end of January.
