The disposable incomes of the population in the second quarter of this year were by 6.6% higher compared with the corresponding period last year, totaling 2,374 lei on average per person a month, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the salary is the most important source of livelihood. This represented 42.4% of the total disposable incomes, an increase of 0.8% compared with April-June last year. The social welfare accounted for 23.9% of the disposable incomes, while the revenues earned from individual activities – 13.5% (7.3% from agricultural individual activity, while 6.2% from non-agricultural individual activity). The cash transfers from abroad contributed 16.5% to the disposable incomes.

The urban population’s incomes were by 643 lei on average higher than the rural population’s incomes. The salary was the main source of income for the people from urban areas. This accounted for 53.6% of all the incomes. For the people from rural areas, the salary was also the main source of revenue, representing 31% of all the incomes.

The rural population is greater dependent on transfers from abroad than the urban one. In the case of rural population, these represented 21.9% of the incomes, as opposed to 11.2% in the case of urban population.

The average monthly consumption costs of the population in the second quarter of this year were 2,379 lei per person, up 5.9% compared with the same period last year. Some 45% of the costs went on food, 18.2% to maintain the dwelling, while 10.4% to buy clothes and footwear. The other costs were intended for healthcare (5.4%), communications (4.4%), transport (3.8%), furniture and domestic appliances (3.7%), education (0.4%), etc.
