The country’s people are asked to lend a hand to persons suffering from cancer and other incurable diseases, who need palliative care. On November 10, the public TV channel “Moldova 1” will stage a tele-donation to collect money and other types of assistance.

Contacted by IPN, director of “Moldova1” Mircea Surdu said that all the persons who want to make a donation can come to Studio No. 2 of the national television channel from 12 noon until 4pm. Everyone can help a sick person not necessarily by money, but by looking after them voluntarily, with kindness and patience.

The tele-donation is staged within the campaign “Give them a day without suffering”. All the donations collected since April, when the campaign was launched, and the money that will be gathered on Sunday will be given to the Medical-Social Philanthropic Foundation “Hospice Angelus Moldova”.

The event involves Princess Marina Sturza, who is the president of honor of the foundation. She will come to Chisinau especially on this occasion. “We will try to bring together kindhearted people, politicians and businessmen to sensitize the people and to collect donations for those who live their last days. We want to really offer them a day without suffering,” said Mircea Surdu.

After the campaign, during the Christmas holidays, the public TV channel will produce a number of features about persons who benefited from the donations made during the campaign.

As many as 1,500 grownups and almost 790 children benefit from palliative care offered by the Foundation “Hospice Angelus Moldova”. The foundation’s doctors and medical assistants provide gratis specialized services and psycho-emotional counseling to them and their relatives.
