As from today during three months, the Population and Housing Census - an important exercise for every citizen – will be conducted throughout the country, said the National Bureau of Statistics. The authorities reiterate that the collected data is used only for statistical purposes, without being possible to identify personal data. The collected information will be disseminated in generalized form of census results on various characteristics of the population, IPN reports.
Each home will be visited by a census taker who will ask several questions and record the answers on the tablet PC. The census taker will wear a cap, T-shirt, vest, backpack and tablet PC – all with the census logo. They will also present the mandatory census taker’s card.
According to the NBS, the participation in the census is mandatory and the collected information will help the authorities to better protect the infrastructure, modernize education, improve social and health services. “We urge you to answer the questions of the more than 4,000 census takers who during this period will be knocking on doors across the country, and to encourage family, friends and neighbors to do the same,” the National Bureau of Statistics said.
July 7 will be the last day of the census. The authorities estimate that the first results – preliminary data – will be published six months after the census is completed.
The census is a large-scale statistical activity that takes place every 10 years, being part of world census rounds conducted in accordance with international recommendations.
