Popescu in Brussels: We need firm and solidary support of EU member states

“On our path to reforms and democratic transformations, we need the whole effective, firm and solidary support of the EU institutions and member states for our accession perspective,” said Deputy Prime Miniuster Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who is in Brussels on a working visit, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu said he went to Brussels to promote the country project – the obtaining of the EU accession candidate country status.

“The irreversible course of our country towards the European Union means aligning for the benefit of the citizens in different sectors, such as energy, transport, environment, and agriculture, and extension of cooperation in the fields of defense and security for building our resilience,” stated the Moldovan official.

In a meeting with European high-ranking officials in Brussels, Nicu Popescu will reiterate that Moldova is a country with a European history and identity in which one of the official languages of the European Union, the Romanian language, is spoken, the Moldovan citizens showing their commitment to the European values.
