In the campaign prior to the parliamentary elections, sociological polls will be broadly used to show ratings that do not exist. Furthermore, the goal of such polls is to pave the way for the falsification of elections. Such opinions were stated in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
Ștefan Gligor, programs director at the Center for Policies and Reforms, said more polls started to be carried out and de facto Moldova entered the election campaign. He called on the citizens to be very attentive as there is already a precedent when polls were used to shape public opinion in the campaign that preceded the local mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality. “They were used to persuade the people that particular candidates do not enjoy popular support and that other candidates will pass particular thresholds or will meet particular expectations,” stated the expert.
According to him, those polls discredited the procedure for studying public opinion by polls. “We can no longer count on this procedure after we did so in the campaign prior to the local elections,” stated Ștefan Gligor, adding sociological surveys in the upcoming campaign will be widely used to show ratings that do not exist.
Former judge Domnica Manole said the poll is a reaction aimed at diminishing the negative effects of the European Parliament’s resolution that clearly and trenchantly noted that Moldova backslid significantly in terms of democratic values, independence and impartiality of the judiciary because it is a captured state. “Currently, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are “fed” on such polls that I consider do not show the reality as regards the human rights, the reforms that could ensure the people’s real wellbeing,” stated Domnica Manole.
Executive director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives Vlad Kulminski noted the real goal of the polls, in general, and of the published poll, in particular, is to pave the way for the falsification of elections. “If there is a wide discrepancy between polls and the final result, this would be a problem. But if there is a trend that shows the government improved its rating and regained people’s confidence and the final result of elections is similar, this will look nicer and it will be harder to speak about the massive rigging of these elections,” said Vlad Kulminski.
On November 26, the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova published the sociological survey “Influence of institutional changes on citizens’ electoral behavior”.
