All the polling stations in Moldova started work and no incidents that could influence or endanger the electoral process were reported. In two villages, there was no electricity, but the situation was remedied. The voting process abroad started in Japan, China, the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, while in other countries the polling stations will be opened according to the local time, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, vice president of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Șarban said voting today takes place in the same conditions as in the first round of November 1. There were established 2,143 polling stations. Of these, 139 polling stations are intended for Moldovans abroad, while 42 for the citizens eligible to vote who reside in the Transnistrian region, Bender municipality and some of the village of Căușeni district.

Three polling stations have a special working program. The polling station in Strasbourg, France, will be open between 7am and 8pm, the polling station in Baku, Azerbaijan, will work between 7am and 6pm, while polling station No. 1/442 in Budapest, Hungary, opens at 7am and closes at 7pm.

Vladimir Șarban called on the citizens to obey the rules so as to prevent infection with COVID-19 and its spread and urged the Moldovans abroad to inform themselves about the addresses of polling stations as they were modified in some of the cities.

In the runoff vote, the elections are declared valid regardless of the voter turnout. The candidate with the highest score is declared winner. If both of the candidates get the same score, the candidate who gained more votes in the first round emerges victorious. The polling stations in Moldova are open between 7am and 9pm.
